J-mac has not yet hit the big screen, but people around world are demanding to hear “For J-Mac” by Iron Butter on the airwaves. A little over a month ago, the team manager of the Greece Athena Varsity Basketball team scored 20 points in less than 4 minutes, sinking 6 three pointers which is a school record. For an average person, this is phenomenal, but Jason McElwain, aka J-mac, as his friends and teammates refer to him is also a highly functional Austic individual. Absolutely amazing.

Stealing FREE internet service

March 25th, 2006 by · 1 Comment · Technology

A man in the state of Illinois was arrested for using somebody else’s Wi-Fi service without their own permission. I know this happens a lot in apartment buildings where people can easily access other people’s wireless routers with thier own wireless card. Many people do not have their service password protected.

County officials are starting to crack down on this, but how stiff should the penalty be? $250 fine and one year probation enough? Isn’t stealing cable a more stiff penalty??? Is there any difference?

March Madness taken to the next level…

A teacher in Japan was forced to apologize to his students after viewing the baseball game between Japan and South Korea while proctoring an exam. I can understand checking the score on the internet, but to view the game on the television in the classroom while the students are busy taking an exam is ludicrous. Absolutely unreal.

“Off with their heads!?!?!…”

Many teachers in the state of Florida were fired due to cheating on their professional development courses they are required to take according to state law. I do agree that these teachers should be dismissed due to their behavior, but will the students suffer as well???? Having teachers come in mid-year, how can that help??? Do you agree or disagree? What are your thoughts and feelings on the matter?

The Power of Technology…

March 11th, 2006 by · Comments Off · Education, Education/Outside NY

Just when everyone is complaining about students are misusing technology by chatting with other students via there phones during inappropriate times in school, posting inappropriate comments on blogs, comes a school that uses technology to bring people closer together. A high school in Florida has made English class very exciting. How, you ask? A teacher was able to recruit a famous book author to speak about his book with the teacher’s students through a video conference chat which to me seems really exciting. This is possible because of how technology has improved over the years. What makes this high school even more remarkable, it is an ONLINE high school/middle school. No lie, these schools are becoming a new trend. Students from all over the globe attend this school.
